A recent admitted student to School of the Art Institute of Chicago received an additional scholarship called the SAIC Campus Visit Grant.
According to the award notice, the scholarship provides:
$1,000 per academic year
Renewable for up to 4 years
Total potential value of $4,000
The award also comes with renewal requirements, including maintaining full-time enrollment and successfully completing at least 75% of attempted credits.
One important thing many students do not realize about U.S. college admissions is that scholarship updates can still happen after the initial admission decision.
This is especially common at art and design schools, where factors such as:
portfolio strength
demonstrated interest
campus engagement
enrollment likelihood (yield)
may sometimes influence additional merit funding decisions.
Students should also pay close attention to scholarship renewal conditions rather than focusing only on the total award amount.
In this particular case, the notice also mentioned that the scholarship may be forfeited if admission is deferred.
For students applying to U.S. art schools, it is important to continue checking both the admissions portal and financial aid updates even after receiving an acceptance letter.
